Community Medicine

Preventive Medicine is a branch of medical science which deals with study of diseases and preventive aspects with proper management. Preventive medicine developed as a branch of medicine distinct from public health. Preventive medicine is applied to healthy people customarily by actions affecting large no’s of population; its primary objective is prevention of disease and promotion of Health. It also imparts the knowledge of preventive and promotive concept of all aspects of living i.e. Health, Disease, Screening, Epidemiology, Communicable & Non-Communicable diseases, Environment & health, Sanitation, National & International Health Programmes etc. Conducting educational visits is a part of community medicine visits like – milk dairy, Industrial area, water purification centers, Hospitals etc. are held to upgrade practical knowledge of field areas.
